Because Every Youth Deserves Another Tomorrow…

Skylar Foundation for Youth Recovery and Suicide Prevention

Who We Are;

Skylar Foundation for Youth Recovery & Suicide Prevention

Prevention. Education. Support.

The Skylar Foundation works to prevent youth suicide by increasing awareness, strengthening community response, and connecting youth and families with mental health resources.

Our work focuses on early intervention and prevention, ensuring that young people, caregivers, and communities understand the warning signs of suicide and know how to respond when someone is struggling.

Because every youth deserves another tomorrow.

Suicide Prevention Education

The Skylar Foundation partners with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention to bring evidence-based suicide prevention education into schools and communities through the Talk Saves Lives initiative.

Talk Saves Lives is AFSP’s flagship suicide prevention education program that provides participants with an understanding of:

• The scope of suicide in the United States
• The most up-to-date research on prevention
• Risk factors and warning signs
• Protective factors that reduce suicide risk
• How to have supportive conversations with someone who may be struggling
• How to connect individuals to appropriate help and resources

School & Community Outreach

The Skylar Foundation works with schools and youth organizations throughout Utah to expand access to mental health education and suicide prevention resources.

Through these partnerships, we aim to:

• Increase mental health awareness among youth
• Reduce stigma surrounding mental health and suicide
• Equip students and adults with tools to recognize warning signs
• Promote help-seeking behavior
• Connect youth and families to local mental health resources

By bringing prevention education directly into schools and community spaces, we can reach youth earlier and strengthen the support systems around them.

Family Support & Resource Connection

While prevention education is the Foundation’s primary focus during its initial phase, our mission also includes supporting families navigating youth mental health challenges.

Through community partnerships, the Skylar Foundation helps families connect with trusted mental health resources, crisis services, and supportive organizations.

Our goal is to ensure that no family faces youth mental health challenges and/or substance use alone.

Future Program Development

The Skylar Foundation is working toward the future development of community-based, family-centered behavioral health services and recovery support programs for adolescents experiencing suicidal ideation, substance use challenges, and co-occurring mental health conditions.

Our prevention and education initiatives help build the partnerships, community awareness, and infrastructure necessary to support these future services.
